Osteoporosis

Live a healthier, pain-free and more active life!

Osteoporosis is characterized by a decrease in bone density. This typically occurs in the spine and femur. There are many factors that go into maintaining the density of your bones. The two primary ones are nutrition and how much activity you perform. Your bones respond to normal stresses and strains that are placed on them during weight-bearing activities. Therefore, it is essential that you increase and maintain the proper amount of physical activities to help bone growth.

If you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, one of the most important actions you can take is to have physical therapy. Our physical therapist, Vickie M. Fairchild, will work with you and your physician to build your muscles and bones. Often, with osteoporosis, comes limited hip or spinal movement, core weakness and at times, poor balance. All of these issues can be greatly improved with the right physical therapist.

Our program focuses on a total wellness approach, teaching you correct posture, weight-bearing exercises, gentle strengthening and restoring your posture. When combined with the right nutrition and at times, medication, we can help you improve your bone density.
